    great picks, but y'all missed a few serious vets and pros:

    zig modileste - meters

    vinnie colaiuta - zappa, sting, + stacks of sessions

    peter erskine - weather report, jaco big band, stacks...

    steve gadd - steely dan, rikki lee, paul simon etc, etc,

    tony williams - miles, herbie ++

    check out:

    antonio sanchez - pat metheny (this guy is like michael jordan on the drums -- athletic, intelligent, intuitive... skillled.)

    dave king - the bad plus, happy apple (new deal, mad player)
