Sorry for the repeat posts, but what I dig too is, and don't laugh, the Zak Wylde overdrive pedal. It's not really metal sounding at all (unless your driving a mesa boogie maxed out, then you get all the squeals and shiznit)...turn the drive up to like 2 and the gain at 10 or 11 and it's a real smooth overdrive or lead boost - very "colorless" to the pickup input
