I would just stay away from Deep Ellum unless there's a show at Gypsy. Ellum is a pile of vatos circling the same 4 streets in their cars over and over.
Go to Monkey Bar, Meridian Room (both in Fair Park). Lower Greenville has plenty of places too. Or you can go to Uptown (Upper Greenville) if you wanna hang at some snooty places.
