how old are you? i'm 29 and to be doing client design on any level when i'm 40 isn't something i ever thought i wanted to do.

I'm using design as a way to express myself freely, live my own life, have my own schedule, not have a "dead end job", and financially secure a future for myself by funding other endeavors along the way that I hope will occupy my time in the future as they come to fruition.

A plan as to the future you have in mind will better help you decide which path you wish to take to get there.

many times along my 9-10 year journey have i rethought not staying "employed" or finding a better "studio" or even getting a design degree from a "reputable" institution

had i taken that path, the extra time wouldn't have devised the path i wished to take and follow instead would have been engulfed in corporate design. not knowing if that is the life i wanted to live now would have ever even existed

i want to retire by 40, so I can't get caught up with hours, employers and such.

You only live at the level you think at.

Put alot of thought into it, talk to your dads dad about it if possible, he's alot more like you than you know

    Good luck.
