What you have at the moment is very good. It's a very functional site, easy to navigate and use. Complements the portfolio very well.
If I was you, I'd add a little more personality. It's very 'system' looking and cold. Maybe instead of a band of colour at the top of the page it's an image. maybe use graphical text instead of system text in places...?
I wouldn't change the mechanics of the site, just refine the appearance to say 'this is me' more.
