I'm running iphoto 6 on my own machine currently - I've got 5221 images in there and it flies. I know the old versions used to be waaaaaaay too slow to work with but they seem to have it worked oout so far as I can tell. Mind you I don't know whether it suddenly dies at 10, 20 or 100,000 images...
