Bape is practically mocking it's own customers. I passed by the store in SoHo one Saturday afternoon with a huge crowd standing outside. There were these hybrid Thug/Gangsta/Skater kids standing there with baggy clothes dripping off them and these God-Awful rainbow colored Bape sneakers that made them look like clowns. They looked completely ridiculous and there was NO possible way they were going to appear cool. But they certainly felt cool within the 15 foot radius of the store. Perhaps it's the confidence instilled by paying %500 more than one should for plastic clown shoes.
