    my parents pretty much get it. web design is a little easier to grasp than graphic design i think. they are just happy that I enjoy my job.

    my grandma was a painter so they appreciate art.

    Webdesign is easier to explain because people always think it's more impressive making and maintaining websites than it is 'drawing', but neither jobs seem particularly difficult for those on the outside. Apparently anyone can make a website these days, and graphic designing is equated with being an artist, as least from what I've seen.

    It's worse for me since even what I do in school is difficult to explain. I study Mass Communication (and English), and not one person knows what that is at first. I always have to talk about how it's related to the media, technology, language, history, and various communication theories.
