I get about 40% of my work through my 2 reps (US & Europe)and I get the rest through my own marketing.
My advice is to aim high. Lots of services like altpick can be a waste of time. They might bring you a job or two, but not a whole lot. Those sites have so many artists on them that it's impossible for prospective clients to find you.
Go for the big reps, you can find many online. a couple are www.larkworthy.com and unit.nl. There are tons of them. Look at the artists the rep and see if you'll fit in. That's how I found mine and it's worked very well for me.
It usually takes them awhile to get the ball rolling for you so be prepared.
You can get reps all over the world, just as long as you don't overlap their territories. Hell, get a rep in Canada and another in Australia and another in Europe. it's well worth the effort.
