Forget the cities, just go to the west coast, see the islands of Skye and Mull for a start, avoid tourist spots, head up some Monroes (mountains over 1000 metres) see stunning views, maybe even get to Uist, I was there last year and it was amazing... blue skies, white beaches, no tourists just us and the beautiful Scottish islands.
