Interactive is a whole other story. The old saying content is king is almost always true. Great design helps but good luck getting someone to return to your site if the content is lacking. On the other hand look at MySpace. Not good design but very effective. Also, as is the case with NewsToday, great design isn't always sexy or the design that grabs you. It's often just the design that is appropriate or functional.
