yeah, go to st.andrews its a nice part of fife. go on a good day and soak up some sunshine on the massive long beach. grab some ice cream from genettas ice cream shop up near the cathederal on south street.
visit the castle and the cathederal too.train to aviemore/inverness is a good shout too.
if you's are after clothes shopping then glasgow is the place to go. although, for your wife theres loads of really cool shops around edinburgh hidden away if u know where to look.
