    hdr is in my eyes much more simple, no spots are necessary...

    Add a Sky object to your scene and apply the HDR Shader material to it
    Add some objects to your scene. If you use a floor or plane object for your objects to sit on, you might want to use a render tag to prevent that object from casting shadows so it doesn't block the light data coming from the lower part of the HDR Shader.
    Enable radiosity in the Render Settings and make sure you turn off the auto light!...

    You can find alot of hdr images on the net als look at lightwave they also supprot hdr.

    to make the images, you need software which is only available for pc. but there are plenty on the net, you don't see the picture it just gives a certain mood & reflection to your objects...
