Why not change the work just enough so that it's not positively identifiable? Change the names, move something here, add something there...
I'm kind of in the same boat, the owner of my place is a brutal idiot and running the place into the ground, i need out, but they've been firing people when they find out they went on interviews...i can only go to the dentist so many times.
