nah, we have an amazing world class zoo, http://www.milwaukeezoo.org/ better than most cities. 2 dope museums, including the calatrava brise soleil http://www.mam.org
http://www.mpm.org/German Fest is next weekend also, http://www.germanfest.com/ I take my nephew to it every year. he is 11. we have a pretty wicked lakefront too. no beaches to speak of though. free trolleys that take you all around downtown and the east side (trendier neighborhood) lots of sidewalk cafe's and restaurants.
A day trip to milwaukee would be very cool with kids. let me know if you have any other questions.
