If you're used to 16x12, do yourself a favor and jock those 20s, man. They're pretty darn nice. That being said, I've got dual 19s and its still alright.
Dell makes some quality monitors, and though somebody's Google-fu will probably contradict this, I thought I understood that the 20" Dell wide panel is the same panel as Apple's (in a different enclosure, obviously).
Point is, the widescreen allows for a lot of toolbar space.
