I'm originally from Australia, where you only pay council tax (rates) when you own a property (I guess the landlords takes it out in your rent to them). Anyways, it makes it soooo much cheaper to rent... and makes me really resent having to pay the damn council so much especially when they are so dodgy (two words - George Galloway).
