but if they're having a designer create a custom invite, there should be some flexibility to do what you want right? and to not be so traditional? otherwise, why not just buy a pre-designed set with silver ink and flourishes?

My fiancee is all about tradition, but her dad is all about saving $$ and I don't want to be the bearer of bad news on account of extra paper costs. paying for the whole thing myself would be awesome to avoid price discussions, but her family is old-school and is insisting on paying for everything...which means this invitation gets done on the ultra-cheap.
