you've done some good work, but your type skills both in the work and on the site itself, need improvement...
I think if you made the nav smaller, either same size as your logo type, or preferably smaller and trimmed down the story on the main page it would be more inviting, or just lose it completely. Explaining the rationale of your url, and then explaining a bit about yourself, sorta gives a lot away on the first page. And honestly, it could be a bit more compelling or shorter and wittier...
