This has come up before on another site.
I had to explain it to some girls in my studio yesterday.
Basicallly it works through the 9 times table.
Whatever you choose, if you at them together and take the result away from the original number you will end up with a multiple of 9.
Look at the symbol for multiples of 9 (9, 18, 27, 36 etc) they're all the same!
If you've done the sum right you will never have any of the other numbers, only a multiple of 9.
Then each time you load up the game again they change what the symbol is for those multiples of 9, so it looks more random and magical.
