i decided to go to amsterdam for the holland portugal game. my brother and i seemed to be the only portugal supporters in a sea of orange, since we were the only two cheering when portugal scored!! i've never gotten so many coasters and drinks thrown at me before, but it didn't stop us from grinning at the end of the match (granted the game was horrible all around, but a win's a win). we watched the game on a big screen at a sports comedy club, and at the end of the comedy show the commedians screamed, "fuck portugal!" to which the crowd replied," fuck portugal!" so we kinda knew what we were in for...
then again, holland does seem to have a chip on their shoulder since portugal kicked them out of the last world cup and the last two euro cups. someone told me that holland hasn't beaten portugal since 1991, but i'm not sure about that.
i'd like to see portugal win on saturday. it would e funny because portugal knocked out england, then holland 4 years ago and it would be cool if they did it again in reverse. i'm not sure what will happen on saturday, but we've decided not to fly into london for the match.
