you should thank fifa for that too tommy, since USA 94 they went about turning this into practically a non-contact sport as possible. Tackles from behind were banned. Apparently to protect expensive players who were having careers ruined by bad tackles. And seriously, you should see some of the career destroying injuries top players were suffering pre 94.
But, obviously once you come down on tackling like that, players take advantage and diving is rampant in the game. Just the way it is.
