elms, i must hereby correct this measurement since i've lately been acquainted with a few bottles. Must say I've watched them closely as they went by.
There's really no standart measure, because wine producers define bottle size accordingly to wine specs. but the EU standart of standarts is approx 30x7cm. the body-neck relation varies accordingly to the type of wine, so they say.
(in illustrator) best thing to do if you're doing labels is to measure radius and take -1cm for canvas (0.5cm each side), so that when bottles are displayed in series there's 1cm between every label.
