at my wedding I wore a white linen shirt and some tan linen pants. Dress code was basic: anything classier than a t-shirt + shorts + flip flops. I had people that still showed up t-shirts (those "oh-so-classy: $45 ones) and even my wife's brother was wearing shorts and sandals, but guess what? It had no impact whatsoever on the outcome of the fun had by everyone. No tension in the air, nobody was uncomfortable. It was great.
fuck a tux. they've never fit me right and I refuse to blow hundreds of dollars at tailor for something that I will wear less than once a year, if that.
