agreed, dinky, but it's one of those words that has many connotations. when it's cold, people say it's nippy too, which refers to one's nipples getting hard. that was part of my bad joke.
it's kind of like when I one time said in class, "it's the chink in the armor." at first i had to question it but that's actually how the phrase is used. at the same time, "chink" is a horribly offensive word in another context.
