If you want to get into the nitty gritty of A.S. I'd suggest learning OOP and there are tons of actionscript classes but you may be better off taking a full Java course since theory and processes will be covered in a class like that. You can learn a bit from a week long A.S. class and I learned quite a bit from one with http://www.joshuadavis.com But I still don't have my head around how to structure things properly and organiztion of code for reuse etc. It's too much to go over in just a week long course.

I work with a .net/java guy and he has helped me a ton and he's also suggested to me to take a full on Java class. He mentioned there are differences of course but he was able to pick up on A.S. in less then a few weeks and this was mainly because of his java background. I plan on taking a course at the end of the summer.

Flash design wise you can learn most of that by books and just building things. The more you create the more you'll learn and the faster you'll learn. http://www.Lynda.com can be a great resource as well.

    just my 2 cents
