It was only a matter of time before it switched from unbiassed work deserving mention to bribery.
Hey, it works for American politics, why not. :)
On the other hand, CA (whom I respect) and The Webby Awards (which I don't), also charge for submissions. I imagine the cost is chalked up to submission evaluation labor.
