Oh I'm quite sure i've traveled enough and I don't even own a TV. But where I come from (Seattle) that's no stereotype. Any "Red" around these parts (red=republican) more often than not has an NRA sticker on their truck. If you get into the city they just drive GIANT SUV's with W'04 stickers on them.So I'm afraid it's no stereotype.
Ultimately I don't see what you people think is going to change or who's right and who's wrong when the people you elect are nothing more than money grubbing attention whores. They could give a shit about you and your rights and your wants and needs.
