montreal has a great scene for design. very incouraging of students and fresh idea. the main problem is that its market is québec oriented, less national clients. this means a more limited market. which mean of course very competitive. but its also very young and growing non stop. we are seeing a bit more design studios finally networking outside of québec.
also, montreal has the highest population of creative/artists people in canada. (saw this in an article in a french canadian news paper).
i'm a student here in montreal and love it. I'm neck-deep in the design community because everybody here is open and friendly and a lot is going on.
