I recently saw an interview on BBC with Carlos Ruiz Zafón, author of "Shadow of the Wind"(great novel, story taking place in bcn). He said that Barcelona nowadays isn't as creative place as it seems to outsiders (at least compared to like 100 years ago with all the painters and so on) and is on a good way to become just a theme park of itself. Zafón lives in LA, btw. Some other people interviewed sounded a little bitter, saying it's a shitty province compared to London.
