The protonic reversal thing is me just being extreme. It's not killing them, but doing the physically impossible by deleting their mass from the universe. It's my making a little over-the-top cartoon of my indignation.
To be still more fair, I've got a little girl on the way and seeing this stuff makes me white with rage. Especially when I search my neighborhood for freed sex offenders and find at least one on every block. When it comes down to what I would actually have the government do, you and I would probably be on the same page. Permanent, forever jail.
I know castration won't stop them. It will hurt them. And you're right, imagining my kid falling prey to a person like that makes me want to visit maddening pain on all of them.
