I have had loads of problems with uploading through dreamweaver. Used the help section of www.easyspace.com which explains it simply, you can view it without logging in...
Or check its not your hosting side with an website ftp like http://web2ftp.com
finally I found that there was simply a space after my ftp login name and all worked fine
