    If your interviewing them, then the skills should be there. Your really interviewing the person to make sure they will fit in, and arn't a complete idiot. Things I look for. Details. You would be surprised how many people overlook the small stuff. Thats the thing that pisses me off.

    And how well they take crits. If they cant handle it. get out of the biz. Its not the end of the world. So tell him to explain why he did something in his portfolio. And look for a solid answer, not a run around. Then make a suggestion to one of his works. See how he reacts. Ass kiss or "well the client and I went back and forth and he really liked this..." Shows they have some balls and hopefully he already tried your suggestion. Shows initiative.
