I also found them too literal and marks are overshadowing the text. For some reason they make me think of a stage door, they seem non-tech looking imo.

There is a nice one on the bottom left of the circle for oxford development that reminds me of a series of open doors...maybe it would be possible to do something with the D or the O, having it partly open, to allude to openness?
