I don't like arial or comic sans, but they do what they were designed for, to hint at small sizes on screen relatively well. However not as nice as verdana or anything.
I would have to say I really dislike the avant garde alternates, there is really nothing i like about them, and avant garde in general, i think there are other geometric sans serifs that are far nicer.
Rotis is a close second. Obviously there are ones that I think are piss ugly like the majority of thematic display faces etc, but I don't even think they are worth mentioning.
