I get asked this question at interviews all the time and for the life of me I haven't come up with a good answer. Mostly I just follow my instincts and my interests and so far I've done will by them.
As such I don't have a goal or a plan, just a plan to do what interests me, thats how I got into design in the first place.
My options facing me in the coming years appear to be drumming in a band, becoming a film editor, or going to culinary school and starting a bakery. At least right now they do, it could all change.
*BTW, people interviewing you don't like to hear that you have no specific goals.
