and people have surprisingly strong feelings about it. some people hate eleanor, but others hate ellie and will only use eleanor.

(Apr 21 06, 05:00)Hmmm....I hate saying names out in full all the time. Maybe I'm lazy, but Eleanor would be alright to use for some serious situation (or when I'm upset, haha), but Ellie would be fine.
I may make something up too, like the Elle-meister (= she-meister), knower of all things female. You could use this as an advantage over your lesbian attackers.
