I moved from Calgary to Vancouver 3 years ago, but I do miss Calgary.
If you are interesting the outdoors (mountain biking, snowboarding, climbing, etc), then Calgary is a fine choice.
In many ways, I would say it's better for mountain activities than Vancouver.
