if you read all of the news articles posted in the link above (by YOU, ponyboy), it explains why this is targeted specifically at microsoft, not other browsers, and that flash, qt, et al are safe

is my usability safe? Did Microsoft leave it so there's no 'visual' or noticeable change w/their decision?
no. They made it so BOTH the user and the developer have to take extra steps...
'small' steps? one click?!! oh my god get over it?!!
... this shouldn't even be an issue... in an idealistic world. :)
it just drives me nuts, acescence... because this is a 'big' Global deal that is more 'annoying' than anything else...
... and yes... does come down to money in the end... which - well, I guess is fine... it's... just... annoying.
