People should be allowed to criticize the end result without having to know a single thing about the scope of the process. Frankly, you keep on bringing up the talent of the people involved and the amount of research that was conducted, but what good was the talent or research if it results in a site that is a failure?
In other words, if the average person has the choice between amazon (amazing usability, clean, great hierarchy) and that site (an abomination on many fronts including usability, appearance, even just font selection) for purchasing a product, why on God's earth would they choose that site? Answer: they wouldn't.
So all this impressive research was for naught.
