Yeah I know, I just found this.

"The orchestration and singing are just too much. It almost makes me want to gag. It reminds me too much of my father’s old-fogey music. But the guitar is soulful and the bass is funky. So, on balance... somewhere in the middle. Something to like, something to not like. I’d rather hear Joe Pass’ Virtuoso records, but that’s just my personal taste."
Only thing is I don't think it's a very good example of his playing.
