i can't seem to find one of my old ones, but basically it's a way of personalising your cv and getting the attention of the person who's about to look at your cv, so they are quite important and really difficult to write.
you need to be concise and convey immediately the kind of personality you are. it's a place where you can get across all the things that might not emerge from your cv.
speak about the particular job and firm that you are addressing and why you would be a good fit for that specific position and work environment.
be passionate about yourself.
i'll try and find you a decent example...
