The most important measure here is the x-by-y pixel dimensions of the image (300dpi doesnt mean much on it's own... it could have been a 1inchx1inch image at 300dpi for all we know)... I would assume if you reaaly need to match the image to other elements in Ill you should do it there.. can't be any worse than reinterpolating the image upwards in size in Photoshop? (never a good thing).
