new version uses iGlow technology which illuminates the headphone wires when used in the dark.
this is to allow muggers to see that you have an iPod, plus they can also follow the trail of the trademarked iGlow wires to the pocket that you'ge got the iPod in.
There were many complaints from muggers that although iPod users were easily spotted during the day with their white wires clearly on show (moreso than wires from any other device) at night time, users were harder to target.
keep your eyes peeled for the iTees. these are tshirts that feature the slogans "THERES AN IPOD IN MY HANDBAG" or "THERES AN IPOD IN MY BACK POCKET"
