Adrian Shaunessy has a good term for account handlers in his book "How to be a designer..."
He calls it the dog and bone way of working, the handler has no emotional or critical attachment to the work so just picks it up like a bone, takes it to client, client doesn't like, brings it back to designer and drops said bone 'rejected'.
That's been pretty much exactly the same for me with project managers. Bare a few gems who I now treat like members of my family.
