Question, I'm not taking a pot shot at you, but saying there are enough checks and balances to get keep this country from ever moving without the majority is a bit naive.
Politicians are out for one thing. Money. All of them can be bought and sold. A president with a 30% approval rating shows for a fact that they are moving without the backing of these lovely people of the USA.
Sure the representatives from the states would take their peoples feelings into consideration, but then they fly out the window once the payoff check comes in.
