I understand, Question. Saddam wanted to trade Iraq's bumper chickpea crop in euros instead of dollars and we got all John Wayne on his ass.
To say this isn't about oil is a fucking lie. You can parse your words as much as you want but at the end of the day, we went to insure that oil still be sold in dollars.
