    you'd be lucky to get a studio in manhattan for $1200+, most people I know live in brooklyn with roommates for 700 - 900. it doesn't matter what neighborhood you live in as far as a fashion career goes. people will roll their eyes at any neighborhood you say you live in and they will tell you how they lived there 10 yrs ago when it was dangerous. you will have to go "oh wow" -- as long as your neighborhood is safe and affordable everything will be ok since you'll never be home. it has been said that fashionable people hang out in the lower east side, chelsea, east village, and williamsburg. the coolest people live in the biggest places with the cheapest rent.
