i am getting married in the next 18 months or so, but do not outrightly believe in the practice of marriage or that it is any sort of official recording of a commitment, promise, or bond. I feel the overwhelming number of people who do complete this tradition are not ready for it and do it as spendogg outlines wholeheartedly.
I also agree and applaud those who have an unaltered, commited and driving belief in their partner yet never 'marry'- that is a wonderful situation and one i (we) almost decided was best.
what i do believe is utter crap, is how US society and policies make it next to impossible to exist as a partnership (hetero or homo) unless you are of an extreme income bracket or privledge. that is a horrible practice but one that will not ever stop i know.
