when i was a lifeguard at the local pool (i think i was a senior in high school) some little kid jumped off the diving board and i think went down farther than she thought she would, got totally freaked out and started to drown in the water. i dove in from my chair about 8 feet above the pool (it was pretty fucking rad) and pulled her out like david hass-the-hoff.
a few years later i get pulled over the next town over really drunk. the cop is about to give me a d.u.i. when he reads my last name. the little girl i saved was his daughter.
he pulled my car off to the side of the road for me and put on the hazzards, and gave me a ride to my buddies house so i could sleep it off and pick up my car the next morning.
i saved his daughter so he saved me. whew.
